Dragon Tamer: Closed Species Info by xYorutenshi

1. History

Dragon tamers are a certain group within a larger species. "Hebi"- japanese for "snake"- are a species of snake demons/yokai that originate from japan (I googled it.. and apparently it's a thing but they have tails- for this species just know these snake people don't have tails). Unlike the more familiar yokai they are sometimes confused with- the "naga" which is a similar species but the key difference being that a naga has a lower body of a snake- a Hebi appears human.

In a village of Hebi, dragon tamers are considered the strongest. Dragon tamers usually have the darkest hair- a trait that has now become a way to tell how strong one is. The normal hair color is green, lighter green makes it obvious you are not a dragon tamer but a normal hebi that isn't strong enough to tame the beast- dark hair (preferably still green but black is a fine color to have) makes you an obvious dragon tamer.

Dragon tamers are -like hebi- able to communicate with snakes. When trapping/ readying dragons for the capture, they use scrolls and seals that shoot out from their bodies in the form of black snakes. A dragon that isn't worn out is hard to capture even with thousands of black snakes wrapped around to detain it, so dragon tamers have to be strong and physically fit. Since they are also snake demons/yokai, some are able to create venom in their bodies (over the years dragon tamers have lost their fangs for a more human appearance but some are still able to do this) but most are simply immune to most poisons.

2. General Powers

                 a. Able to look younger by shedding their skin

                 b. Able to speak with snakes

                 c. Note- most have lost their fangs so few are gifted with a poisonous bite

                 d. Able to store snakes in their bodies

                 e. Stronger in the daytime but aren’t as helpless at night as the Hebi- they however cannot use their snakes at night.

                 f.  A tamer can usually seal between 1-4 dragons.

3. Dragon Taming Technique

a.They use a type of seal to tame dragons. The seal takes on the appearance of countless black snakes that bind the dragon. Once the dragon is engulfed by the snakes- the dragon tamer must have a scroll at hand and opened to seal away the dragon

                             i. Inside of the Scroll?

                                                1. Inside the scroll- the dragon is thrown into a setting fitted to the dragon tamers personality. It  can range from a forest, mountain range, field to a cave/ prison.

4. Ranking

a.The Dragon Tamers with darker hair color are considered stronger than those with lighter hair.

                b. If a dragon tamer is born with another hair color besides green then they are considered gifted and are considered blessed. This is the case because green hair color is the normal thing in the Hebi and Dragon Community. Hebi woman with different hair color are outcasted. Dragon Taming woman with different hair color are celebrated.Men on either side receive equal praise and recognition.

5. Types

                a. Species Tamers-

                            i. These tamers are only able to tame a certain type of dragon. (Western/ European/ etc)

                b. Type Tamers

                            i. These tamers are only able to tame certain types of dragons. (elemental/ certain capabilities)

                c. Affinity Tamers

                            i. These  tamers are able to tame a range of dragons. They must test their luck and see if they are able to tame a dragon- they can either be rejected or be successful- there is no specific type of dragon they can’t tame.

                 d. Soul Tamers

                            i. These tamers are able to tame dragons without using a scroll. These scroll acts as a gate or doorway to capture and release dragons- basically soul tamers are able to do the gates job without a physical object. They simply place their dominant arm on the dragon to establish contact to seal it.  Only 1/100 Tamers is capable of being born a soul tamer- 1/500 are able to become one through rigorous training that may result in a shortened life or even death.

              e. Millennium Tamers

                            i. These tamers have no limit to the number of dragons they can keep. Their body is not burdened by the amount or type of dragons they have. The tamer themselves are usually weak/ not suited for fighting on their own so they heavily depend on their dragons. Tamers of this kind must be careful to properly tame their dragons or risk being ganged up on by a group of freedom seeking dragons.

              f. Resonance Tamers

                            i. These tamers are able to acquire dragon like traits from a dragon they have sealed in a scroll they have at hand. Such things that they can acquire are the dragon’s scales, fangs and claws. This partial fusion is possible even if the dragon is unwilling. This tamer is also capable of a full body fusion with a willing dragon that is summoned. The fusion is more effective if the dragon is capable of taking a human form (more on this in the “Dragon” section). What can be acquired from the full body fusion is the dragon’s tail, wings (if it has any), fangs, claws, abilities and strength. Basically two bodies working together. The better the relationship between the tamer and the dragon- the more successful the fusion. It is life risking to attempt this with a stubborn dragon, it may tear your body apart.

6. Dragons

               a. Species

                             i. Dragon species range from the familiar European winged dragons with large bodies to the serpent appearing dragons that roam the skies/ rivers and seas.

               b. Types

                              i. Elemental

                                           1. Water, air, earth, fire, lighting, etc.

                               ii. Special

                                            1. Dark, light, spirit, storm, metal, sound

              c. Human Forms

                               i. Dragons that are conscious enough can take on a human form. Those that can take on a human form are considered to be stronger than those that can’t.

ii. A dragon that can take human form ages slowly and remains in their “prime of youth” age for the most of their lives. They age more rapidly towards the end of their natural lives.

7. Hebi

               a. Abilities

                                 i. A hebi is able to shed their skin in order to appear younger.

ii. They have fangs that these enjoy using to bite and poison their enemies.

iii. Hebi are able to speak to snakes, raise/breed and store snakes in their body.

iv. When hebi have a territory dispute, it’s conflicting to try to use wild snakes to their advantage (because the snakes don't know who to follow)- usually this becomes a way for hebi to display their superiority, by “out- taming” the other by gaining the assistance of more wild snakes.

                                 v. They draw power from the sun, and in turn are slower and weaker at night

               b. Sages

                                 i. Hebi sages are considered to be as strong as dragon tamers- a hebi that went another path somewhere in their diversion from the main hebi species

                                 ii. Rank

                                                1. The hebi sages are the most respected Hebi and are even considered holy by both hebi and dragon tamers

                                                2. Sages are usually born with white hair- which is what differentiates them from the rest of the species.

                                                3. In the early ages- it was mainly white haired males that were deemed sages- females were considered curses and most of them ended up locked up in their homes- unable to marry. Some of the females even took their own lives. Now some females are able to rise to sagehood- or at least work under the sages as a sort of vassal.

                                                4. Sages are the most powerful and influential of the clan but aren’t in charge. The Leader or Head of the clan still runs the place. When there are fewer sages in the clan- they follow under direct orders of the head. When sages are plentiful- they are able to become a council of sorts and have more power than the Head.

                                iii.Abilities

                                                 1. They have all the abilities normal hebi have

                                                 2. They are able to sunbathe during the day in order to store that energy so they are not helpless at night like the other hebi

                                                                a. This is key- sages are entrusted with protecting the other hebi during the night because of this.

                                                 3. They are able to become one with nature in being motionless for periods of time- able to detect life forces of creatures within a 20 mile radius.

                                                 4. Able to use “the snakes whisper”- an ability that allows them to take control/ influence another creature. It must be used close range by whispering into the ear of the other- the other is usually petrified by fear- expecting a deadly bite instead of this ability. This only lasts a few minutes given the sage remains near its target.

                                                 5. Their summoning is more similar to that of Dragon tamers- the Soul Tamer to be more exact. They are limited to snakes; however, their snakes can range from the size of an average green snake to the size of a western dragon (of course- the snake cannot fly).

                                                 6. Sometimes mistaken for a Resonance tamer due to this ability: Sages are able to take on traits such as scales and claws.

                                                                    a. More powerful sages are able to further this transformation- taking on a form with scales, claws, a tail and even wings. This phenomenon is rare and has been mentioned in legends. Few refuse to believe it is possible because it brings the question- why are sages so similar to dragons?

Might edit some stuff later- Feedback would be nice ^_^</u>
o4o need to draw some references for some of these things *stretches*

Any questions would be nice so I can figure out what things I need to touch up on owo
@_@ also- the dragons aren't the closed species- that'd be silly- just the tamers :iconhowtololplz:
