Personality: Rioshi is a serious guy but has a big brother personality. He has this thing about looking out for others and putting them before himself. He gets irritated when people look down on themselves or force their opinions on him. He sometimes keeps to himself if he sees that acting up in situations would just end up with him getting into trouble. 
History: Rioshi was born to a family of traders. His parents were well off enough most days and rarely struggled with going without a meal for an entire day. Rioshi's mother took a break from the caravan and stayed behind in Svae'r so that she could comfortably raise Rioshi. His dad went on with the caravan and came back at least once a month to bring back money and see how his family was doing.
When Rioshi turned 5 everyone agreed he'd be fine traveling with the caravan, so his mother and him rejoined the caravan. It took a while to get used to all the traveling but being with both parents made the strain of the journey seem like nothing.

When Rioshi was 9 the caravan was attacked by thieves and he lost his father. He and his mother returned to Svae'r and mourned. His mother supported them through artisan crafts and Rioshi did odd jobs around the area to get spare change or even meals to bring back home.

When Rioshi turned 11 he started asking around caravans for jobs. His mother didn't approve after the loss of his dad, this stopped Rioshi from doing this for a while. He started up again when he was 12 and nearing 13. Most people just turned him away but sometimes he got the usual odd jobs which usually just involved lifting heavy materials that they were in a rush to load. When he asked for payment a merchant just handed him a wooden rod and went on his way.
The exchange led to Rioshi practicing with it. He'd swing at the air and find himself grinning, it wasn't a sword but it made him feel strong and secure.

At the age of 14 Rioshi was hired to accompany a caravan to a nearby city. It took a while to convince his mom but he got her consent and went off on his 4 day trek. He helped feed the animals and entertain the weary travelers with some singing. His wooden rod made it's debut during this trip when an (we can assume by the outcome) inexperienced thief attempted to steal while most of the caravan had fallen asleep during a stop for the night. Rioshi was on guard duty and half asleep himself when he saw the figure slip in. Still thinking he was a sleep the boy felt heroic and went over to stop and fight the man. In the end he left the man with a bruise on his gut on the ground, the noise woke everyone up. Rioshi yawned but soon found himself wide awake with all the back slapping and praise.
Since then he had other escort jobs brought to him through recommendation.
When he turned 16 he went to work "professionally" in that field, though he got the lowest paying jobs since he wasn't as strong as the older men.

He's about to turn 17 and is working his way up to getting better paying jobs that require longer treks. His mom still worries about him and makes him check in with her before he decides anything but that's a mother for you.
